1. What these things are
A cookie is a scrap of text a site asks a browser to hold on to. Local storage and session storage manage the same trick by other means. All three are covered below, and all of it is published by Ruby Fever Ltd company no. 41872342, who runs Ruby Fever.
Six items get written in total. Each one is behind something visible on the page, and not one of them follows anybody to another website.
2. The three cookies
| Name | Kind | Behind what | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
rf_adult | Necessary | Remembers the age confirmation, so the question is put once instead of on every page. | 180 days |
rf_choices | Necessary | Carries whatever you decided in the storage bar, and the moment you decided it. | 12 months |
PHPSESSID | Necessary | Written on the support page alone. Binds the form to your session so forged submissions bounce. | Until the browser shuts |
3. The three storage keys
| Key | Kind | Behind what | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
rf_purse | Local storage | The Ruby balance, plus when the daily gift was last taken. Remove it and no table can recall what you hold. | Until cleared, or until the balance is wiped |
rf_clock | Session storage | When the current sitting started, which is what the 40-minute reminder counts from. | Until the tab shuts |
rf_seen | Session storage | Which reminders have already appeared this sitting, so none of them arrives twice. | Until the tab shuts |
All six stay put on the device. Not one of their values reaches our servers, and your balance is unreadable to us.
4. What is deliberately missing
There is no analytics package here. No advertising cookie, no social widget, no tracking pixel, no third-party script of any sort. Type is set in fonts already on your machine, and every image comes off our own domain. That leaves the Statistics and Advertising switches in the settings panel controlling precisely nothing today: they are there so that if either category is ever introduced, it arrives switched off, stays off until you say otherwise, and this page is rewritten before it runs at all.
5. Changing your mind
- Open from here, or from the link sitting in the footer of every page.
- Your browser will block or bin site data of its own accord too. Worth knowing: block the necessary items and the age question returns on every single page, while the Ruby balance stops being saved at all.
6. Revisions and contact
This page is rewritten whenever the list above moves. Questions to hello@rubyfever.com, or by post to Ruby Fever Ltd company no. 41872342, Wilson St, Middlesbrough TS1 1AE, United Kingdom. The Privacy Notice covers the rest.
